  We introduce a fast and robust numerical method for medical image segmentation. We use the modified Allen-Cahn equation for modeling the boundaries of the sections of an image and its numerical algorithm is obtained by applying operator splitting techniques. We solve the heat equation implicitly with the variable diffusive coefficient and a source term. After that, using a closed-form solution for the nonlinear equation, we get an analytic solution. We demonstrate performance of the algorithm on several medical images.
