Mapping class group and related topics
abstract : The study of mapping class groups of surfaces started with the works of Dehn and Nielsen around 1913 and it went on interrupted. Besides being basic objects in surface topology, these groups appear now in several branches of mathematics such as combinatorial group theory,
3-manifolds and 4-manifolds theory, complex geometry and algebraic geometry. in this talk, we will give a brief review on the classic mapping class group theory and introduce related topics.
